MOORE LAKE PARK PROJECT
Frog Mosaic Installation
The frog mosaic installation at Moore Lake Park, installed during the summer of 2025, marks the first public art endeavor led jointly by the Fridley Public Arts Commission and the Fridley Creative Arts Foundation. The project combines the beauty of art with the natural themes of the Rice Creek Watershed District, creating an engaging and colorful addition to our community.
About the Project
The frog mosaic, designed by artist Jessica Turtle, showcases her creative vision and dedication to celebrating nature. Jessica has previously contributed several pieces of work for the Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD).
The installation features:
A detailed mosaic depiction of a frog inspired by local wildlife.
Carefully selected tiles and colors that bring the piece to life.
A location near Moore Lake Park that complements the natural setting.
About the Artist
Jessica Turtle is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and educator in the Saint Croix Valley. Turtle is the Founder and Managing Director of the Natural Heritage Art Centre, a woman-owned rural arts center in the heart of the Saint Croix Valley.
Turtle's creative practices span a variety of media, including drawing, painting, and sculpture. Her work explores many themes, such as memory, pattern, nature, humor, and fairytales. Although most recognized for her vibrant palette and nature-inspired patterns, her work strongly advocates for wildlife and habitat restoration and communicates the inherent value and interdependence of all living and nonliving things.
Generous Donors
This project was made possible through the incredible generosity of Mary Tjosvold, the owner of Camilia Rose Assisted Living and Crooners Supper Club, and the Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD), who is a key supporter of art and environmental initiatives in the area.
